The Accredited Standards Committee X9 Inc. has begun work on a new QR code payments standard. The goal is to establish the content of a QR code for payments, emphasize interoperability, and include both merchant-presented and consumer-presented QR codes. X9 said the standard is needed to accelerate the adoption of instant payments.
Block Inc.’s acquiring unit Square said 3.7% of restaurant transactions it processed in the second quarter included a service fee, more than doubling since the beginning of 2022.
Technology consulting firm CGI Inc. said it will provide systems for adjudication, payment, and collection for parking and camera violations in New York City.
