Zelle for Small Business And Other Digital Transactions News briefs from 2/2/23

  • Citizens Financial Group Inc. has launched the Zelle peer-to-peer payments service for the bank’s small-business customers.
  • U.S.-based Clickatell said it has deployed its Chat 2 Pay service with a pay-by-link capability for FlySafair, a South African airline for mobile payments via’s FlySafair’s WhatsApp channel.
  • Payments provider Lightspeed Commerce Inc. announced it processed $22.4 billion in volume for the quarter ended Dec. 31, up 10% year-over-year, with revenue of $188.7 million, up 24%, and a net loss of $814.8 million, including a non-cash goodwill impairment charge of $748.7 million. The year-ago net loss was $65.5 million The company said Jan. 17 it was eliminating 300 jobs, or 10% of its workforce.
  • Digital-currency companies Airswift Technology Ltd. and Cloud Payments said they are working to enable instant access to cryptocurrency for transactions at the point of sale on Visa and Mastercard cards.
  • U.S.-based business-payments provider FleetCor Technologies Inc. announced it has acquired Mina, a United Kingdom-based cloud-based platform for electric-vehicle charging of commercial fleets. Terms were not announced.
